Elizabeth Ocean's Insights: What If Clearer Vision Starts Within? A Holistic Approach to Eye Health
“The way we see the world may reflect how we are experiencing life itself. ” - Elizabeth Ocean
One of the ideas that stayed with me after speaking with Dr. Alyssa Beth Heransky-Beck was the possibility that vision is about far more than eyesight.
For many of us, vision seems purely physical. If our eyesight changes, we assume the solution is external—a stronger prescription, a different lens, a better device. Yet this conversation invited me to consider something deeper: What if clarity begins with awareness?
As women navigating business, leadership, relationships, and personal growth, we often become focused on solving problems outside ourselves. But transformation frequently begins when we pause long enough to understand what is happening within.
One of the most powerful aspects of Dr. Heransky-Beck’s perspective is her invitation to explore the emotional and life experiences surrounding changes in vision. Whether or not those experiences directly affect eyesight, the practice of becoming more self-aware is valuable in every area of life.
"Whether we're building a business, healing a relationship, or improving our health, lasting change begins when we become willing to look inward."

I was also fascinated by the connection she described between physical alignment, movement, and vision. It serves as a reminder that wellness is rarely isolated to a single system. Our bodies, minds, emotions, and experiences are interconnected in ways we are still learning to understand.
For me, the larger lesson extends beyond eye health.
It is about vision in the broader sense of the word.
Do we have a clear vision for our future? Are we consciously creating the life we desire, or simply reacting to what appears in front of us? Are we seeing possibilities—or only limitations?
"Vision is more than eyesight. It's how we see ourselves, our possibilities, and the future we're creating."

The Women’s Spirit Festival is designed to bring together conversations that challenge conventional thinking and expand what is possible. This discussion reminded me that true clarity is not something we stumble upon—it is something we cultivate.
"Clarity is not just something we find through our eyes—it is something we cultivate through awareness, intention, and a willingness to see ourselves more truthfully."
— Elizabeth Ocean
And perhaps that is where our greatest vision begins.
